Pastor Brent became the senior pastor of Colonial in 2016. He and his wife Carissa moved to Virginia Beach from Minneapolis along with their five children. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Brent loves preaching and teaching the Scriptures and developing future church leaders. His desire to serve the church and academy led him to complete doctoral degrees in pastoral ministries (D.Min., Northland International University) and New Testament studies (Ph.D., Ridley College, Melbourne).
Amid the busyness of pastoral ministry, Brent occasionally reviews biblical resources (for the Gospel Coalition, Master's Seminary Journal, etc.), enjoys presenting at academic, evangelical conferences (e.g., Evangelical Theological Society, Institute of Biblical Research), and teaching biblical exposition courses and workshops at several seminaries and pastor's meetings worldwide.
